Kristen and Sean’s Easter Wedding at Jorgensen Farms in Columbus, Ohio

When holiday weddings meet bucket list venues, any photographer knows they are in for a wedding unlike any other. And from the moment I spotted Kristen and Sean’s inquiry, I was certain this celebration was one I had to book! But I couldn’t have imagined then just how perfect their wedding day would be. With a spring breeze, brilliant blooms, and even an Easter egg hunt, Kristen and Sean’s beautiful Easter Sunday wedding day at Jorgensen Farms in Columbus, OH, was one I’ll never forget!

As the sun rose on Easter Sunday, Kristen and Sean got ready in rooms on separate sides of Jorgensen Farms. In a pink, white, and green balloon-covered suite,  Kristen slipped into her form-fitting, drop-sleeved lace gown from The Dress Theory Nashville as the bridesmaids and groomsmen put the finishing touches on the reception space. While Kristen and Sean chose not to do a first look, he wasn’t about to let her walk down the aisle without getting a final word in! As Kristen read her last love note from her fiancé before he became her husband, the tears flowed! It was hard to camera-click instead of wrapping her in a big hug! But the photos from that moment were some of my favorites from the day.

While we blotted the tears to prevent mascara runs pre-ceremony, the letter-writing culprit and his groomsmen adjusted their ties and snapped their cufflinks. Before they departed for the ceremony, the groomsmen in their black jackets surrounded Sean in his white, and said one final prayer over him. Let me assure you…he didn’t escape a teary pre-ceremony moment either!

After everyone wiped away the tears, we headed off to the greenhouse for a beautiful but really, really warm ceremony.  The Columbus Musicians String Quartet played a moving melody as the wedding party walked down the aisle toward a stunning floral cross marking the spot where the couple would say, “I do.” If you haven’t noticed, their faith means the world to Kristen and Sean. They wanted to make it the center of their Easter wedding celebration, and they certainly did in a multitude of ways you can spot throughout their gallery.

After they’d been pronounced man and wife, they invited the kids to grab an Easter basket and race out onto the grounds for an egg hunt that Jorgensen Farms put together! It was such a sweet surprise…and it gave the parents present a way to enjoy a drink uninterrupted during cocktail hour. Genius! After everyone—kids and adults alike—enjoyed cocktail hour, we headed to the Oak Grove structure for the reception.

Notice how many location changes were part of this celebration? If there’s one thing I know, it’s that a talented planning team can make or break a day filled with transitions. And the Jorgensen Farms in-house planning team made the whole celebration flow effortlessly! The florals and catering were even handled in-house! Talk about the dream, full-service experience! And that effortless feel allowed Kristen and Sean to simply enjoy their day, which translated into a relaxed, genuine, joyful gallery.

The talented in-house team was perfectly complemented by the vendors Kristen and Sean chose to bring in, especially their videographer! There’s a misconception that photographers and videographers are always competing for the perfect shot or getting in each other’s way, but with the right pairing, that couldn’t be further from the truth! Jillian Marie and I actually fed off each other’s creativity throughout the day. We worked together seamlessly, and I’m so pleased with the way our work combined to tell the full story of the day in a unique way. But no wedding day story is complete without the post-ceremony reception, and Kirsten and Sean’s day absolutely had to end in a packed dance floor!

But before the dance floor filled and energy cranked up to 11, Kristen’s father had one final tearjerking moment planned. In a speech that even made me choke up behind my camera, he played a voicemail he’d saved on his phone, one Kristen had left him when she was just in elementary school! I still get choked up just thinking about that moment! I know it’s one I’ll never, ever forget.

As we all scrubbed the tears from our faces, DJ Bern took over, and the guests raced to fill the dance floor, where they stayed well into the night. And as the sun dipped low, I snuck Kristen and Sean away to enjoy the final moments of daylight on their Easter wedding day. We snapped a few final portraits. Then, I whisked them back into the venue to party the rest of the night away!
This Easter wedding day at the dream Jorgensen Farms was a sentimental celebration I’m so grateful to have documented, and I hope to return ASAP! So, if you’re a wedding planning couple interested in saying “I do” at the incredible Jorgensen Farms, I would love to hear from you! Congratulations, Kristen and Sean, and I hope to photograph you again soon.
