Investing In Education As A Creative Business Owner
Hey y’all!
So this post is going to be unlike anything I’ve ever posted but it’s my blog and I’ll do what I want! HA!
Since it’s the beginning 2019 I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking of my goals. Last year my goals were all over the place with no true theme. For this years goals I decided to try to remain centered. I chose 3 overarching themes: education, self promotion, and networking.
Throughout the year I’ll eventually let you know all about the goals I set for myself but for this post I’m just going to focus completely on the theme of education.

So far in my business I’ve been relying heavily on free or cheap education. This year I decided to take the plunge and invest in some real deep learning!
For me so far that has meant signing up for 3 (YES 3!) amazing photography business experiences. My plan is to outline them here now and get it all out in the world. Then write awesome in depth reviews of my experience after each education opportunity. Finally, let you know all about how my business changes as I implement the things I learn this year.

The 3 opportunities I chose are:
The Gather + Bloom Workshop from Madison Braun
Madison Braun is a fellow Ohion I follow on Instagram. She runs these in person workshops many times a year and last year provided an awesome behind the scenes look at one of the workshops. I figured the next time she host one locally, I want in. Well there’s a local workshop she’s hosting in April and I already put down my deposit to attend. I’m so excited for learning, eating (HA!), and a styled shoot. WOOT!
The Curate Workshop from Kylie Bricker
Kylie Bricker is another fellow Ohioan I follow on Instagram. She is hosting this wedding photography workshop locally with a styled shoot too. She also is going to be teaching about how to take those detail shots with hands on activities. I can’t wait!
The Heart University from Lindsey Roman & Evie Rupp
This education opportunity is 100% online. I admire how Lindsay and Evie have grown their photography businesses so I jumped at the opportunity to learn from them. Since it’s online I can learn at my own pace and go back and rewatch all of the content. They cover EVERYTHING from posing, social media, SEO, and pricing your business. I’m so excited!
As I finish up these educational experiences be on the look out for full reviews and actual examples of how implementing what I learn effects my business.
